288 COVID cases/day confirmed in Alberta this weekend

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province has released its latest report on COVID-19 for Monday, covering statistics from the past three days.

Note: Due to lower COVID-19 case counts in recent weeks, LNN will only be reporting COVID numbers twice per week on Mondays and Fridays. Should the situation change, we will go back to daily reporting.

Over the last three days, 863 people tested positive for a daily average of 288. To date, there have been 339,291 cases in Alberta.

With 20,813 tests conducted in that time, the positivity rate was 4.1 per cent.

4,182 cases are currently active while 331,834 people have recovered.

In the South Zone, 46 people contracted COVID in the last three days, or 15 per day. Of those, 16 cases were in Lethbridge.

Active infections regionally remained relatively flat.

Since Friday’s update, three Albertans died from COVID with two in the Central Zone and one in the North Zone. To date, 3,275 people in the province have died as a result of the virus.

Provincially, 357 patients are currently hospitalized including 68 who have been admitted to intensive care.

Below is a breakdown of cases per health zone in Alberta:

  • Calgary Zone – 125,326 cases, 1,732 active
    • 107 in hospital, 18 in ICU
    • 854 deaths
  • Edmonton Zone – 105,178 cases, 1,264 active
    • 116 in hospital, 33 in ICU
    • 1,322 deaths
  • North Zone – 46,724 cases, 418 active
    • 43 in hospital, four in ICU
    • 403 deaths (one new)
  • Central Zone – 38,609 cases, 525 active
    • 66 in hospital, eight in ICU
    • 407 deaths (two new)
  • South Zone – 23,415 cases, 237 active
    • 25 in hospital, five in ICU
    • 289 deaths

Below is a breakdown of cases in the South Health Zone. The numbers in brackets show new cases or deaths over the past four days:

  • Lethbridge – 7,260 cases (16 new), 88 active, 62 deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 2,659 cases (10 new), 31active, eight deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 2,387 cases (four new), 24 active, 22 deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 2,207 cases (two new), 33 active, 32 deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 4,611 cases (eight new), 46 active, 78 deaths
  • Brooks – 2,104 cases (one new), three active, 24 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 2,012 cases (six new), 33 active, 20 deaths
  • Cardston County – 1,873 cases (one new), 13 active, 40 deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 1,304 cases (two new), nine active, 17 deaths
  • Cypress County – 871 cases (two new), nine active, six deaths
  • County of Warner – 798 cases (three new), 10 active, four deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 659 cases (one new), six active, 11 deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 576 cases, one active, seven deaths
  • County of Newell – 524 cases (five new), 12 active, eight deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 345 cases, one active, five deaths
