Lethbridge residents encouraged to prepay property taxes for 2022

Dec 15, 2021 | 10:34 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Residents in Lethbridge are being advised that if they make prepayments towards their 2022 property taxes in January or February, they will see a discount when 2022 tax bills are issued.

The city says the discount will be equivalent to earning interest at 0.75 per cent per year from the date of payment starting in 2022 to June 30, 2022. Prepayment amounts cannot exceed the total property tax bill for the preceding year.

Property owners who are enrolled in the Tax Installment Prepayment Plan (TIPP) program already receive a monthly discount on their credit balance. Residents can make payments online, at their bank, in person at Lethbridge City Hall, by mail or by using the secured drop box at City Hall. Credit cards are not accepted.

City Hall will be closed from December 27 to January 3, re-opening on January 4. Payments made online, at one’s bank, or sent in the mail will be honored as of the online payment date and the stamp date.
