Daily cases rising in Alberta as 786 confirmed Tuesday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province has released its latest report on COVID-19 for Tuesday, covering statistics from the past 24 hours.

786 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 343,734. Of those, 6,045 cases are active while 334,395 people have recovered.

With 7,305 tests conducted over the past day, the positivity rate was 10.8 per cent.

In the South Zone, 74 people tested positive with 10 in Lethbridge.

Active cases provincially increased by 393, but remained relatively flat in the south region.

To date, AHS reports that there have been 1,609 cases of the Omicron variant in Alberta with 19 of those coming from the South Zone.

Since yesterday’s update, one person each in the Calgary and Edmonton Zones died from COVID. To date, 3,294 people in the province have died as a result of the virus.

Provincially, 329 patients are currently hospitalized including 69 who have been admitted to intensive care.

Below is a breakdown of cases per health zone in Alberta:

  • Calgary Zone – 127,880 cases, 3,222 active
    • 114 in hospital, 20 in ICU
    • 857 deaths (one new)
  • Edmonton Zone – 106,413 cases, 1,740 active
    • 98 in hospital, 32 in ICU
    • 1,329 deaths (one new)
  • North Zone – 46,986 cases, 390 active
    • 39 in hospital, six in ICU
    • 406 deaths
  • Central Zone – 38,860 cases, 464 active
    • 61 in hospital, seven in ICU
    • 412 deaths
  • South Zone – 23,548 cases, 215 active
    • 17 in hospital, four in ICU
    • 290 deaths

Below is a breakdown of cases in the South Health Zone. The numbers in brackets show new cases or deaths over the last day:

  • Lethbridge – 7,321 cases (10 new), 90 active, 62 deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 2,692 cases (seven new), 49 active, eight deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 2,396 cases, 16 active, 22 deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 2,226 cases (three new), 25 active, 32 deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 4,638 cases (four new), 39 active, 78 deaths
  • Brooks – 2,108 cases (one new), five active, 24 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 2,022 cases, 24 active, 20 deaths
  • Cardston County – 1,876 cases (one new), nine active, 40 deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 1,311 cases (two new), nine active, 18 deaths
  • Cypress County – 876 cases, 10 active, six deaths
  • County of Warner – 799 cases, five active, four deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 661 cases, three active, 11 deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 578 cases, two active, seven deaths
  • County of Newell – 529 cases, 12 active, eight deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 345 cases, zero active, five deaths
