Tom McElhinney, the Chair of the Poppy Committee at the Royal Canadian Legion General Stewart Branch No. 4 in Lethbridge said, “it’s a privilege for me to acknowledge and thank the community in helping us reach our branch fundraising goal on behalf of our members in order to provide assistance and support veterans and their families.”

Some donations remain to be deposited into the trust fund account from other sources, such as text donations and those collected from the poppy tap box. Donations can be made any time of the year.

POSTER AND LITERARY CONTEST

Each year, the Lethbridge branch accepts entries from schools in the area and home school students for the Poster and Literary contest.

The first-place winners move on to the district level and successful entries are then judged at the provincial level in January. If selected at the national level, they are then given an opportunity to attend the national Remembrance Day ceremony in Ottawa as part of the youth delegation.
