Hurricanes claim Reichle off waivers from Prince George, waive Repcik

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes have picked up a new forward while waiving another.

The team’s claimed 2003-born skater Liekit Reichle off waivers from the Prince George Cougars, while waiving 2004-born forward Peter Repcik.

The 18-year-old European Reichle was drafted by the Cougars in the first round (23rd overall) in the 2021 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft. He has appeared in 26 games this season for Prince George, totalling 12 points (three goals, nine assists), along with a plus-4 rating and 10 penalty minutes.

From Zurich, Switzerland, he amassed 75 points (20 goals, 55 assists) in 43 matchups in 2020-2021 with the GCK Lions U20 team in Switzerland’s U20-Elit league. He also scored one goal in five games for Switzerland at the 2021 World Under-18 Championships.

The 17-year-old Repcik, of Kosice, Slovakia, was a second-round pick by the Hurricanes (115th overall) in the 2021 CHL Import Draft. In 25 games this season, he totalled two assists, along with eight penalty minutes.

The Lethbridge Hurricanes are back in action Saturday, January 1 when they visit the Calgary Hitmen, before welcoming the Swift Current Broncos to the ENMAX Centre in Lethbridge on Sunday, January 2.
