Milk River Emergency Department to temporarily close parts of next week

Dec 31, 2021 | 10:49 AM

MILK RIVER, AB – Alberta Health Services is advising that the Milk River Health Centre Emergency Department will be seeing some temporary closures next week.

As there will be no on-site physician coverage, the ED will be closed during the following periods:

  • 8 a.m. Monday, January 3 to 8 a.m. Tuesday, January 4.
  • 5 p.m. Tuesday, January 4 to 8 a.m. Wednesday, January 5.
  • 5 p.m. Thursday, January 6 to 8 a.m. Friday, January 7.

AHS notes this is a temporary measure and staff are working hard to ensure local residents continue to have access to the care they need during this time frame.

During those periods, nursing staff will still be on-site to provide care for inpatients. Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency. EMS calls will be re-routed to Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge.

For non-emergency health-related questions, residents are asked to call Health Link at 811. Individuals requiring non-emergency medical care are also encouraged to call their family physician.
