Scheidegger makes provincial curling finals

GRANDE PRAIRIE, AB. — The finalists are set on both the men’s and women’s sides at Best In Alberta curling provincials taking place at Grande Prairie’s Bonnetts Energy Centre.

On the men’s side, Kevin Koe will play Ted Appleman.

Koe beat Jeremy Harty 10-3 in 6 ends in the 1-2 Page playoff game Saturday morning.

Appleman advanced by beating Harty 7-6 in Saturday evening’s semi-final after eliminating Karsten Sturmay in the 3-4 game Saturday morning, winning 7-1 in 8 ends.

The men’s final is set for 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

On the women’s side, Casey Scheidegger beat Kelsey Rocque 10-7 in Saturday’s semi-final, avenging Team Scheidegger’s only loss in the round-robin.

Scheidegger plays Laura Walker in the women’s final Sunday at 11 a.m.

Both teams finished the round-robin with records of 6-1 with Walker’s only loss coming to Scheidegger, 8-7 in Draw 5.
