The Lethbridge Hurricanes are set to induct two prominent alumni to the Hurricanes Wall of Honour.

Mark Greig and Kevin St. Jacques will be enshrined on Friday, February 4 when the ‘Canes host the Regina Pats at the ENMAX Centre.

Greig was an original Hurricane in 1987 and played through 1990. From High River, he appeared in 201 regular season games with Lethbridge, totalling 270 points (100 goals, 170 assists) along with 300 penalty minutes. Greig, who now lives in Lethbridge, laced his skates for 26 post-season games with the ‘Canes, collecting 42 playoff points (16 goals, 26 assists). He helped Lethbridge to the 1990 Championship Series. In 1990, Greig was named the Hurricanes Hardest Working Player and the Hurricanes Three Star Award winner. Additionally, he was named a WHL First Team All-Star in 1990.

He sits 15th all-time in franchise goals (100) and was a two-time 100-point scorer. He’s sixth all-time in franchise assists (170) and ninth in all-time points (270). He is one of nine players in team history to score 50 or more goals in a single season while being one of four players to accomplish the feat twice.

Greig was a first-round draft pick by the Hartford Whalers, selected 15th overall in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft, becoming the first Hurricane to be picked in the first round of the NHL Draft. He went on to play 125 career games in the NHL with Hartford, the Toronto Maple Leafs, Calgary Flames and Philadelphia Flyers. He played 1,125 games as a professional hockey player in the NHL, AHL, IHL and DEL. As well, he helped the Springfield AHL club in 1990-1991 capture the Calder Cup Championship.

Following his retirement from playing, Greig has helped coach with the Lethbridge Golden Hawks and the Lethbridge U18 AAA Hurricanes. He has also served as a scout for the Philadelphia Flyers since his retirement in 2007.

Kevin St. Jacques was initially acquired by the Hurricanes from the Spokane Chiefs during the 1988-89 season. From Edmonton, he played in 234 games for the Hurricanes over parts of four seasons. He tallied 300 career points (139 goals, 161 assists) while adding an extra 44 points (23 goals-21 assists) in 45 post-season games. He helped the ‘Canes to back-to-back WHL Championship Series appearances in 1990 and 1991. St. Jacques was named the Hurricanes Three Star Award winner and the Hurricanes Top Scorer Award winner in 1992 while being named a WHL Second Team All-Star in 1991 and a First Team All-Star in 1992.

With Lethbridge, he was a two-time 100-point player and one of just five in team history to reach the 60-goal mark in a single season, setting the all-time franchise record of 65 goals during the 1991-1992 season. He sits 23rd all-time in career games played (234), fourth in franchise goals (139), ninth in assists (161) and fourth in franchise points (300), while being one of just four players to reach the 300-career point mark.

St. Jacques is one of only two Hurricanes to lead the WHL in scoring during the regular season to claim the Bobby Clarke Trophy.

After playing the Lethbridge, St. Jacques was a sixth-round daft pick by the Chicago Blackhawks (112th overall) in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. He played 928 career professional games, totalling 1,036 points (346 goals, 690 assists) in the CHL, ECHL, IHL, WCHL and UHL. He was a three-time WCHL champion in 1997, 1998 and 2000.

In 2007, St. Jacques retired from professional play. He resides in Carolina, where he is the head coach of the Carolina Jr. Hurricanes of the USPHL Premier, while also serving as an assistant coach of the Carolina Jr. Hurricanes of the USPHL Elite.

Greig and St. Jacques will join Jamie McLennan, Wes Walz, Jamie Pushor, Jason Ruff, Bryce Salvador, Shane Peacock and Byron Ritchie in the Player Category of the Hurricanes Wall of Honour.

The induction ceremony will include an afternoon luncheon from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Canadian Western Bank Lounge at the ENMAX Centre. Those wishing to reserve a seat can do so by calling 403-328-1986, or by visiting the Lethbridge Hurricanes Office at the ENMAX Centre.
