Kenney sees jump in approval rating, but doing poorly at handling COVID; Poll

The new numbers for Kenney mean he has seen a slight rebound from his all-time low of 22 per cent approval in October.

The UCP is set to hold of vote of confidence on Kenney’s leadership in April that will determine whether or not he stays on as premier.

The low approval rating appears to coincide with peoples’ perceptions of the premier’s handling of the pandemic, as those numbers have steadily gone down over time.

Now, just 19 per cent of those polled believe Kenney is doing a good job of managing the COVID-19 pandemic.

While 69 per cent say the province has done a good or very good job at distributing or administering COVID-19 vaccines under his leadership, only 30 per cent believed the same when it came to making rapid antigen tests available when they are needed.

Between January 7 and 12, 2022, 5,002 Canadian adults were surveyed including 611 from Alberta.
