As the first period neared its end, Mathew Ward scored his 13th goal of the season at the 16:06 mark to put the Broncos up 1-0. Teammate Braeden Lewis was given a minor penalty for holding before the sound of the buzzer, at the 17:54 mark.

The remainder of the period saw no more goals, but a handful of penalties.

At 5:33, Grayson Burzynski (Swift Current) was called for a high sticking minor. New Lethbridge Hurricane Corson Hopwo, traded to the team on last Monday’s WHL Trade Deadline Day, received a minor for slashing at 14:38.

Carter Stebbings scored his fourth of the season at the 12:30 mark, giving the Broncos a commanding 3-0 lead with less than 10 minutes to go in the game.

At 14:51, Lethbridge’s Yegor Klavdiev was called for high sticking. Teammate Hayden Smith scored his first of the season at 18:10, giving some hope to Lethbridge fans with little time to go in the game.
