LETHBRIDGE COUNTY, AB – UPDATE: On February 22, 2022, Lethbridge County lifted the fire restriction.

——————–

Residents in Lethbridge County are asked to hold off on most burning activities for the time being.

The agency has issued a Fire Restriction due to the warm, dry conditions, which is expected to be in place for the duration of this week.

The Fire Restriction means that Lethbridge County will not be issuing fire permits or fireworks permits until further notice.

“Recreational campfires (campground and backyard fire pits) and acceptable incinerators that meet the specifications of the County’s Fire Permit Bylaw #1424 are permitted,” reads an advisory from Lethbridge County.

“Fires that are contained in cooking or heating appliances fueled by fluids or gasses (gas or propane fueled fire rings, BBQs, stoves, and heaters) are also allowed.”

You can check if your planned burning activities are still allowed by going to https://lethcounty.ca/p/fire-permits or by phoning the County office at 403-328-5525.

Fines apply for burning prohibited items. More information is available on our website at https://lethcounty.ca/p/fire-bans
