LETHBRIDGE, AB –– The city of Lethbridge will no longer require proof of vaccination for the public to enter or use city-owned and operated buildings.

The city decided to remove the Restrictions Exemption Program following Premier Kenney’s announcement Tuesday.

Mayor Hyggen said during his announcement on February 9th, “We all have a collective responsibility to do what we can, and to keep everyone safe and businesses open.”

The province has entered step one in reopening, which removes capacity limits for city-owned facilities; up to 500 people in buildings that fit up to 1,000, and 50% capacity for larger facilities.

Some have expressed their concerns about whether or not the city is opening too fast and have stated they don’t feel comfortable going to locations that don’t require proof of vaccination.

Hyggen asked people to respect decisions others make if they choose to go to these locations or not.

The ENMAX Centre no longer requires proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test to gain entry.

Following step 1 of Alberta’s reopening program; food and drinks are allowed for seated audience members.

General Manager Kim Gallucci is hopeful that the ENMAX Centre will be at full capacity again starting March 1st during step 2.

Lethbridge is following Alberta’s move to end the mask mandate for youths aged 12 and below as of February 13 at 11:59 pm.
