No COVID deaths reported in South Zone Tuesday

Feb 15, 2022 | 4:23 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province has released its latest report on COVID-19 for Tuesday, covering statistics from the past 24 hours.

838 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 517,650. Of those, 19,050 cases are active while 494,810 people have recovered.

With 2,499 tests conducted over that time, meaning the positivity rate was 33.5 per cent.

It should be noted that, on January 10, the province limited the number of people who can get a PCR test from AHS for COVID-19 to only those in high-risk settings. This likely means that the amount of people who have actually contracted COVID since then would be higher than what is being reported by the province.

In the South Zone, 95 people tested positive with 26 in Lethbridge.

Active infections in the region went down by 144 and in the city by 57.

Since yesterday’s update, 14 Albertans died from COVID including five in the Calgary Zone, four in the Edmonton Zone, three in the North Zone, and two in the Central Zone. To date, 3,790 people in the province died as a result of the virus.

Provincially, 1,538 patients are currently hospitalized including 123 who have been admitted to intensive care. This marks an increase of 10 for hospitalizations and a decrease of one for ICU compared to our most recent report on Monday.
