Lethbridge Mayor Blaine Hyggen said, “I am extremely confident in Mr. Brierley’s abilities and experience.”

“He is a well respected leader who will bring stability to the organization while still seeking out new opportunities to better serve our community.”

Originally from Saskatchewan, Brierley has many years of experience as a senior leader in municipal government settings as well as with other levels of government and the private sector.

Before joining the City of Lethbridge, he was at the City of Toronto as the General Manager of Fleet Services. Brierley said he and his family “quickly fell in love with Lethbridge and are excited to make this our home.”

“Both my co-workers at the City of Lethbridge and residents in the community have made us feel welcomed and supported.”

Brierley issued a thank you to Craig Dalton, who announced his resignation from the role of City Manager earlier this year.

Brierley’s appointment is effective as of Wednesday, February 16. He will work with Dalton over the next two weeks to transition into his new role.
