Weapons seized at West Lethbridge home

Lethbridge, AB — Lethbridge Police have arrested one man after executing what they called a “high risk search warrant” at a home in West Lethbridge on Thursday, February 17, 2022.

Police searched the home in the 100-block of Jerry Potts Boulevard West following an investigation by the Violent Crimes Unit.

The items seized include two loaded firearms, ammunition, and body armour.

35-year-old Craig Sweetgrass of Lethbridge has been charged with multiple weapons-related offences.

The charges include: two counts of possession of an offensive weapon dangerous to the public, two counts of careless use or storage of a firearm, two counts of possession of a firearm or weapon obtained by the commission of an offense, two counts of possession of a firearm while prohibited to do so, two counts of knowingly possessing an unauthorized firearm, and knowingly possessing a prohibited or restricted weapon.

Sweetgrass remains in custody while awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
