Hurricanes pick up 2-1 road win against Medicine Hat Saturday night

MEDICINE HAT, AB – In front of a crowd of 2,170, the Lethbridge Hurricanes were looking to rebound from a 5-2 Friday night loss against Brandon on Saturday evening.

They were in Medicine Hat against the Tigers.

FIRST PERIOD

The first period saw Lethbridge’s two goals of the game, with Yegor Klavdiev starting things off at the 11:17 mark. Klavdiev’s goal was assisted by Tyson Laventure and Noah Chadwick, and was his 11th goal of the season.

At 14:17, Medicine Hat’s Brendan Lee was issued a minor penalty for slashing.

Jett Jones put Lethbridge up 2-0 at the 16:05 mark. Logan McCutcheon and Brayden Edwards earned the assists.

SECOND PERIOD

No goals were scored in the second period, but three penalties were issued.

2:31 into the frame, Hurricane Easton Kovacs was given a minor for cross checking.

Teammate Jett Jones received a minor for tripping at 10:19 before Kovacs was issued another minor penalty for tripping at 14:56.

THIRD PERIOD

3:33 into the game’s final period, Brayden Boehm scored his sixth of the season to trim Lethbridge’s lead down to one. It was 2-1 for the Hurricanes.

At 10:11, Pavel Bocharov (Medicine Hat) was issued a minor for charging.

Lethbridge’s Brayden Edwards was given a minor for roughing at 17:20, while Oasiz Wiesblatt also received a minor penalty as the game neared its end.

No more goals would be scored and the Hurricanes left Medicine Hat with a 2-1 victory.
