595 new COVID cases reported in Alberta Friday

Feb 25, 2022 | 4:18 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province has released its latest report on COVID-19 for Friday, covering statistics from the past 24 hours.

595 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 524,381. Of those, 10,112 cases are active while 510,371 people have recovered.

With 3,175 tests conducted during that time, the positivity rate was 18 per cent.

It should be noted that, on January 10, the province limited the number of people who can get a PCR test from AHS for COVID-19 to only those in high-risk settings. This likely means that the amount of people who have actually contracted COVID since then would be higher than what is being reported by the province.

In the South Zone, 76 people tested positive with 32 in Lethbridge.

Since yesterday’s update, 13 deaths were reported in the province. To date, 3,898 people in the province have died as a result of the virus.

Provincially, 1,295 patients are currently hospitalized including 88 who have been admitted to intensive care. That marks a decrease of 62 for hospitalizations and a decrease of four in the ICU compared to our most recent report on Thursday.

Below are graphs showing how COVID-19 in Alberta has trended since the start of the pandemic, which can also be accessed with more detail here.
