LETHBRIDGE, AB – Three underaged boys in Lethbridge are in custody following a pair of assaults at local schools.

Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) says Youth Engagement Officers were informed of an assault outside of Victoria Park High School around 11:40 a.m. on Monday, February 28.

It involved two students, one of whom was wearing a balaclava, assaulting a 15-year-old male student.

While they continued to investigate, another incident occurred outside of Winston Churchill High School involving bear spray.

In the second matter, LPS alleges that three suspects used bear spray on two 16-year-old boys.

Due to the suspects all being underaged, they cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

A 15-year-old boy is charged with two counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and two counts of aiding and abetting assault with a weapon.

A 16-year-old boy is charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, assault, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, disguised with intent, and failure to comply with a sentence/disposition.

A 17-year-old male was charged with assault and possession of a controlled substance (Psilocybin).

The trio are all high school students in the Lethbridge School Division. They remain in custody awaiting bail hearings.

No further details are being released by LPS at this time.
