The ENMAX Centre is playing host to the Canadian men’s curling championship, which started on Friday and is on until March 13.

Kevin Koe’s rink (Alberta) sits atop the Pool A rankings after the tournament’s opening weekend with a record of 3-0.

Koe opened the tournament Friday with a 9-8 win against Saskatchewan’s Colton Flasch. On Saturday evening, it was a 14-3 victory over Newfoundland and Labradors’s Nathan Young. Koe and his Calgary rink defeated Ontario’s Glenn Howard 7-5 on Sunday to improve to 3-0 going into Monday’s fourth day of the tournament.

Tied for first is Wild Card #2, led by skip Matt Dunstone, also boasting a record of 3-0.

Dunstone started the tournament off with a 7-6 win over New Brunswick’s James Grattan before a 7-6 win over Ontario’s Glenn Howard. Dunstone’s Saskatchewan rink from Regina beat Thomas Scoffin of Yukon 9-5 on Sunday.

One of the more emotional meetings of the weekend came Saturday night between James Grattan’s Team New Brunswick and Team Canada, led by skip Brendan Bottcher.
