467 new COVID cases in Alberta Tuesday

Mar 8, 2022 | 5:10 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province has released its latest report on COVID-19 for Tuesday, covering statistics from the past 24 hours.

467 new cases were confirmed across the province in that time period, bringing the total to 529,184. Of those, 7,149 cases are active while 518,056 people have recovered.

It should be noted that, on January 10, the province limited the number of people who can get a PCR test from AHS for COVID-19 to only those in high-risk settings. This likely means that the number of people who have actually contracted COVID since then would be higher than what is being reported by the province.

In the South Zone, 49 people tested positive with 31 in Lethbridge.

Since Monday’s update, seven Albertans reportedly died from COVID. To date, 3,979 people in the province have died as a result of the virus.

There were reportedly two new deaths from the County of Warner. The provincial chart states there was one death in the South Zone, but the local map shows there were two new deaths.

Provincially, 1,106 patients are currently hospitalized including 77 who have been admitted to intensive care.
