FORT MACLEOD, AB – Fort Macleod RCMP has put a Southern Alberta man behind bars on drug-related charges.

On February 24, 2022, RCMP received a complaint about a man who was passed out in the driver’s seat of a parked, running vehicle outside of a business in Fort Macleod.

Sgt. Bryan Mucha says officers attended the vehicle and seized 738 grams of suspected fentanyl and more than $30,000 in cash. The substance is being sent to a lab for further analysis.

“This investigation started with a phone call from a concerned citizen of the community, providing information to the police, which led to this seizure. The presence of fentanyl is not only harmful to drug users, but also negatively impacts the overall health and safety of all citizens of Fort Macleod and its surrounding communities. Fort Macleod RCMP are committed to working towards providing a safer community for its residents.”

Douglas Yellow Horn, 25, of Brocket, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and operation of a motor vehicle without a license.

He has been released from custody on bail and is next scheduled to appear in Fort Macleod Provincial Court on March 16, 2022.
