Alberta Sheriffs stop Red Deer drug operation

Mar 18, 2022 | 1:22 PM

RED DEER, AB – A Red Deer drug house has been shut down.

After an investigation into a residential property, the Alberta Sheriffs have put a stop to drug activity they say was “terrorizing” a neighbourhood in the city.

The Alberta Sheriffs shut down the property Friday, March 18, after obtaining a court order. The property, located at 5110 44 Avenue in Red Deer, will be closed for 90 days.

The community safety order obtained through the Court of Queen’s Bench does not allow anyone to enter the property until the closure period ends on June 16, 2022. A fence is now surrounding the house, the locks have been changed, and boards are up on doors and windows.

Alberta Justice Minister Tyler Shandro says this operation being stopped will create a safer community.

“Law-abiding Albertans shouldn’t have to fear for their safety in their homes and in their neighbourhoods. SCAN investigations give law enforcement another tool to combat crime by taking legal action that targets properties used for illegal activities and holds owners responsible for what happens there. I want to thank the Alberta Sheriffs [for] their work to help people in this community reclaim a sense of safety and security.”

The province says if you believe suspicious activity is happening at a property, you can report a suspicious property by calling 911 or contacting Crime Stoppers.
