Mar 23, 2022 | 4:15 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province has released its latest report on COVID-19 for Wednesday, covering statistics from the past four days.

Previous note: starting on the week of Monday, March 21, COVID-19 data will only be reported by AHS once per week on Wednesdays.

In the last four days, a total of 1,900 cases were confirmed across the province for a daily average of 475.

8,317 tests were conducted during that time, meaning to positivity rate was 22.8%.

With the new way AHS reports COVID numbers, active cases are no longer being displayed so we are unable to report them. Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw said at Wednesday’s COVID-19 press conference that some data was being “consolidated,” but provided few other details.

In the South Zone, 171 people tested positive, or approximately 43 each day.

There were 88 new cases in Lethbridge for an average of 22 per day.

Since our last update, 21 Albertans died from COVID with six in the Calgary Zone, five in the South Zone, four in the North Zone, and three each in the Central and Edmonton Zones. To date, 4,044 people in the province have died as a result of the virus.

Provincially, 956 patients are currently hospitalized including 56 who have been admitted to intensive care. This marks decreases of 10 for hospitalizations and six for ICU compared to our most recent report on Friday.
