LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes hoped for better luck in Friday’s home game.

They fell 5-2 to the visiting Edmonton Oil Kings.

The Central Albertans got off to a dominant start, scoring their first four goals before the Canes made it onto the scoreboard.

Jakub Demek and Josh Williams hit the net for Edmonton in the first, followed by goals from Justin Sourdif and Dylan Geunther in the second.

Lethbridge finally got some points halfway into the third period with both of the team’s goals being scored by Brayden Edwards.

The first came at the 11:14 mark thanks to assists from Miguel Marques and Logan Wormald.

Assists from Logan Wormald and Joe Arsten allowed Lethbridge’s second goal to occur at the 14:32 mark.

The Oil Kings got their final goal with just 18 seconds left in the contest as Carter Souch scored on an empty next.

Despite losing the game, Lethbridge’s Edwards was named the first star of the game.

The Canes will have a chance at vengeance on Sunday as they head up to Rogers Place for a rematch.
