E-scooters and e-bikes coming to Lethbridge in April

Mar 25, 2022 | 11:11 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – People in Lethbridge will have a new way of getting around this spring.

Neuron Mobility will be launching an e-scooter and e-bike service, which will be a first-of-its-kind in the city.

Starting in April, they will have 500 e-scooters and 100 e-bikes available for short-term rentals.

Zachary Wang, CEO of Neuron Mobility, says it will be a simple system that will prove to be useful.

“We are delighted to have been chosen to provide our e-scooters and e-bikes in Lethbridge. E-scooters and e-bikes are really well suited to the city and they will be a great way for locals as well as visitors to travel in a safe, convenient and environmentally-friendly way.”

Once the service becomes available, you will be able to download the Neuron E-scooters and E-bikes app on iOS and Android devices and find available vehicles near you.

After you scan the e-scooter or e-bike with your smartphone and conduct a brief safety check, you are good to go.

The app uses what Neuron calls “Geofencing Control,” a GPS system that controls where the vehicles can be ridden and parked and at what speeds they can travel in certain areas.

Mayor Blaine Hyggen says he is excited to see this service brought to Lethbridge in a way that will have no impact on municipal taxes or budgets.

“There are so many positive benefits to this project including environmental, economic, and tourism. With two post-secondary institutions in our community, we hope both our student population and permanent residents will embrace this new initiative so it can continue to grow in the future.”

For a single trip, you would pay $1.15 to unlock the e-scooter or e-bike and 35 cents for every minute until you park it. Passengers will also have the option of buying three-day, weekly, or monthly passes.
