Canes get revenge over Oil Kings with 5-1 win Sunday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes wrapped up their home-and-home series with Edmonton on a more positive note.

Travelling to Rogers Centre on Sunday, the away team emerged victorious 5-1.

The Oil Kings scored their one-and-only goal a mere 16 seconds into the game as Jaylen Luypen got his team onto the scoreboard early.

The rest of the contest was a dominant affair by the Hurricanes with five goals in the second period.

Brayden Edwards scored the Canes’ first goal thanks to an assist from Alex Thacker at the 1:37 mark in the second.

That was followed up by points from Thacker, Logan Wormald (assist from Jett Jones), Yegor Klavdiev, and Chase Pauls (assists from Justin Hall and Jett Jones).

Neither team scored in the third period, but Lethbridge has already secured their victory.

Sunday’s game actually marked the first time the Hurricanes won while playing at Rogers Place in Edmonton since September 29, 2019.

All three stars of the game were from the Canes.

Kicking off the home-and-home series on Friday, the Canes fell 5-2 to Edmonton.

With the victory on Sunday, Lethbridge is now 6-3-1-0 in their last ten games on the road, improving their overall record for the season to 27-29-3-1.

The Canes remain in seventh place in the Eastern Conference.

Next up for the Hurricanes, they return home on Wednesday, March 30 to welcome the Swift Current Broncos to the ENMAX Centre.
