Hurricanes claim victory over Tigers at the ENMAX Centre Friday

LETHBRIDGE, AB — The Lethbridge Hurricanes beat the Medicine Hat Tigers by a score of 6-3 at the ENMAX Centre Friday, April 1, 2022.

FIRST PERIOD

The Hurricanes had a strong first period, outshooting the Tigers by 15 shots, but despite the ‘Canes efforts, the period ended with the Tigers up 1-0.

SECOND PERIOD

The Tigers added to their lead early in the second period, scoring at just 35 seconds in. The Hurricanes answered back just one minute later, though, when Tyson Laventure scored his tenth goal of the season to make it 2-1.

The ‘Canes didn’t stop there. They tied it up 2-2 when Alex Thacker tipped in a Chase Pauls point shot.

Then the Hurricanes pulled ahead when Brayden Edwards scored with assists from Miguel Marques and Logan Wormald.

The ‘Canes finished off the second period with a power play goal by Alex Thacker – his second goal of the period – to make it 4-2 after 40 minutes of play.

The Hurricanes also doubled the Tigers’ shots on goal in the second period 19-8.

THIRD PERIOD

The Hurricanes kept it going in the third. Their first goal of the period was by Hayden Smith, with assists by Laventure and Briley Wood.

The Tigers answered back with one goal, but the ‘Canes hammered it home when Kade Nolan scored to end the game 6-3 for the Hurricanes.

The ‘Canes also outshot the Tigers 48-31, setting a new season high for shots in a game. Friday’s win boosts the Hurricanes into seventh place in the Eastern Conference.
