City of Lethbridge offering free skate on Green Shirt Day Thursday

Apr 6, 2022 | 8:38 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge community is invited to a free skate day at the ATB Centre on Thursday, April 7. The day marks Green Shirt Day, which honours the late Logan Boulet.

Boulet was one of the victims in the 2018 Humboldt Broncos bus crash and is from Lethbridge. Following his death, what has become known as the ‘Logan Boulet Effect’ spread across the nation and beyond. It saw a rise in organ donations and more conversations being had about organ donation.

In recognition of Boulet’s legacy, the city is offering free skating at the ATB Centre (west arena) on April 7 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Back on March 22, Lethbridge City Council voted unanimously to once again have the Mayor’s Office declare April 7 as Green Shirt Day. Residents are encouraged to wear green shirts to raise awareness of organ donation and the importance of registering as an organ donor.

More information on Green Shirt Day is available at greenshirtday.ca.

Additionally, all public skating listings are available through the City of Lethbridge.
