Apr 11, 2022 | 11:05 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A Medicine Hat man has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 13 years for killing his common-law partner with a box cutter last October.

Timothy Faulkner was sentenced in Court of Queen’s Bench on Friday for the death of Corinne Schneider.

Schneider was found deceased at the couple’s residence in the Panorama Apartment building in the zero hundred block of Third Street SE on October 25, 2021.

Faulkner pleaded guilty on March 18 to a charge of second-degree murder.

In an agreed statement of facts, the court heard last month that Faulkner intentionally and repeatedly struck Schneider in the neck and area with a box-cutting knife. She died as a result of blood loss from the wounds.

Faulkner, who has represented himself, plead guilty to the charge at the first allowable appearance and pushed to have all stages of the matter dealt with as soon as possible.
