Canes win final regular-season game 3-2 over Calgary

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes were successful in their final outing of the 2021-22 regular season.

Travelling to Calgary on Sunday, the Canes came out with a 3-2 victory in overtime.

The away team scored twice in the first period.

Brayden Edwards got Lethbridge onto the scoreboard eight minutes and 45 seconds in on a power play thanks to assists from Joe Arntsen and Logan Wormald.

Nolan Bentham followed that up three minutes later as Corson Hopwo helped him to hit the net.

The Hitmen evened things up in the second period with two points.

After a goalless third period, the contest went into overtime.

It took just 19 seconds for Alex Thacker to score the game-winning goal in overtime as Justin Hall and Nolan Bentham provided assists.

The win came despite the Canes being outshot 31-26.

The Lethbridge Hurricanes finish the regular season in seventh place in the Eastern Conference.

Playing 68 games in the 2021-22 regular season, the team came out with a record of 33-30-4-1.

The Hurricanes’ first playoff series is with the Edmonton Oil Kings. Game one takes place on Thursday, April 21 in Edmonton.
