Firefighters tackle two blazes in Lethbridge Monday, pets missing from one building

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Fire crews in Lethbridge were kept busy Monday night, responding to a pair a residential fires.

Lethbridge Fire & EMS was first called to a fourplex on the 500 block of 9 Ave North at approximately 11:15 pm on Monday, April 18, 2022.

Responders from four stations arrived at the complex and found fire coming out of the roof.

Crews were able to contain the fire to the fourplex with no spread to neighbouring homes.

All occupants have been accounted for and nobody was hurt, however, several pets are still missing.

Damages from the fourplex fire are estimated at $1.25 million. The fire is under investigation.

Just 20 minutes later, around 11:35 pm, the fire department was notified of a blaze on the 500 block of 13 Street South.

Firefighters were faced with a working fire throughout the structure. Members from Coalhurst and Coaldale were called in for assistance.

No injuries were reported in the second home fire.

Damages are estimated at $150,000. The fire is under investigation.
