CRANBROOK, B.C. – Two suspects charged with murder in a pair of deaths that happened in the East Kootenay region of southeastern B.C. over a decade ago have been found not guilty.

Colin Correia and Sheldon Hunter were charged with first-degree murder back in June 2018, in connection to the 2010 double homicide of Leanne Laura MacFarlane, 43, and Jeffrey Todd Taylor, 42.

In a judgment shared in Vancouver Supreme Court on April 25, 2022, Justice Silverman read his executive summary of his decision, stating there was reasonable doubt in the case of the Crown.

Based on reasonable doubt, Justice Silverman found both accused not guilty of both charges.

The judgement follows a trial that began in 2020, with closing arguments being made in December of last year.
