LETHBRIDGE, AB – Prospective students are invited to learn about university transfer opportunities at Lethbridge College later this week.

On Friday, April 29 from 1 to 3 p.m., the college is hosting a University Transfer Minifair in the Garden Court Restaurant.

All interested future students and families are invited to learn about university transfer opportunities in Lethbridge College’s General Arts and Science program. Additionally, students who apply on the spit for the program will be entered into a draw to win free tuition for a year.

The college noted that about 95 per cent of courses in the program are transferable to colleges and universities across Canada and around the world.

Academic advisory Greg Gibos said, “if you start here at Lethbridge College, you can truly go anywhere.”

He added that, “after two years without travel or many in-person adventures, it’s natural to feel unsure about where to go after high school.

“Lethbridge College is a great choice for those looking to explore different subjects and careers, get the confidence and skills needed succeed in post-secondary, and earn transfer credits to university as well.”

The college notes that the program is flexible and can save students on tuition costs. Based on a sampling of Alberta universities, Lethbridge College students in the General Arts and Science program save $2,500 a year or more.

Dr. Kevin Smith, Dean of the Centre for Business, Arts and Sciences said, “the fact that most courses can transfer to other post-secondary institutions means that grads can enter university in year three of a degree program, having used the General Arts and Science diploma as credit to cover the first two years of university general education requirements.”

The event on Friday will include food prepared by students in the college’s Culinary program. Registration for the event can be done at the Lethbridge College website.
