Lethbridge Police seek help to locate man charged with fraud

LETHBRIDGE, AB — The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) is asking for the public’s help to locate a man charged with fraud.

The LPS says on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, a man approached a home in the 2300 block of 13 Street North, and asked the occupant if he could use the phone.

Police say the suspect claimed that his wife was in labour at an out-of-town location, and that he needed to arrange for a ride and some money from a friend.

After claiming that he couldn’t reach his friend, police say he left the house with an undisclosed amount of cash provided by the occupant.

Police say they have received multiple reports involving similar circumstances. The LPS is asking anyone who is approached or victimized in a similar way to contact Lethbridge Police at 403-328-4444 and reference file #22008716.

Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of Jason Adam Foster, 37, of Lethbridge, who is charged with fraud under $5,000.

Anyone with information about the incident or Foster’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Lethbridge Police Service or Crime Stoppers.

No other details are being released and the investigation continues.
