LETHBRIDGE, AB – A Raymond High School basketball standout has committed to the Lethbridge College Kodiaks men’s team.

Brady Baines is a six-foot-three small forward and will suit up for the Kodiaks for the 2022-23 season. Kodiaks men’s basketball head coach Ryan Heggie said, “Brady will immediately help our program on both ends of the court.”

“He is definitely a three-level scorer who will impact the game in a variety of ways. A multi-sport athlete from Raymond who has been well coached, plays the right way and plays to win!”

Due to the pandemic, Baines’ senior season with Raymond High School was cut short. Despite this, he received plenty of interest from several USports schools but decided to commit to Lethbridge College in order to play in front of his friends and family.

Baines said he also wanted a program that will push him both as a student and as an athlete.

He remarked that, “it means a lot that I will be joining a winning program and be surrounded by people who are trying to get better and work hard.”

“It’s great to join a team that will pay attention to the little things and do all that we can to be the best students and athletes we can possibly be. I’ve played a lot of basketball in Lethbridge and surrounding area growing up and I want to represent my home and my family.”

Baines believes he brings a winning attitude and work ethic.

“I feel that I bring a high basketball IQ on both sides of the floor and toughness in doing the little things other players don’t necessarily want to do. I can shoot the ball, I can rebound and make the smart basketball play. Whatever coach needs me to do, you can count on me to do it.”

He is looking forward to being part of a team again.

“Travelling with the team, creating relationships and memories with teammates and coaches. Putting all I can into a goal and having the guy next to me do the same thing is a great feeling. And being able to just play ball. I absolutely love to play basketball.”

Baines has enrolled in Lethbridge College’s General Arts and Sciences program.
