AHS reports 819 daily cases in Alberta this past week

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province has released its latest weekly report on COVID-19. The numbers reported in this update reflect data from April 26 to May 2, 2022.

Over that time, 5,735 cases were confirmed across the province for a daily average of 819. With 25,568 tests conducted, the positivity rate was 22.4%.

In the South Zone, 400 people tested positive, or 57 per day. This includes a total of 172 cases in Lethbridge, or approximately 25 every day.

AHS reported 66 COVID deaths over the last week with 27 in the Calgary Zone, 15 in the Edmonton Zone, 11 in the Central Zone, seven in the North Zone, and six in the South Zone. To date, 4,321 people have died as a result of the virus.

Among the deaths in the South Zone were five in South Lethbridge and one in the County of Newell.

Provincially, 1,267 patients are currently in hospital including 46 who have been admitted to intensive care. This marks an increase of 47 for hospitalizations and a decrease of one for ICU compared to last week’s report.

• Brooks – 2,703 cases (15 new), 33 deaths
• Lethbridge County – 2,823 cases (23 new), 23 deaths
• Cardston County – 2,771 cases (19 new), 47 deaths
• M.D. of Taber – 1,713 cases (17 new), 19 deaths
