LETHBRIDGE, AB – Following a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, the City of Lethbridge Mother’s Day flowers program will be returning to the Mountain View Cemetery.

Mother’s Day this year is Sunday, May 8.

On Mother’s Day each year, the City of Lethbridge Parks & Cemeteries team provides a free rose to visitors to try to help honour the memory of loved ones.

Staff first began offering the flowers on Mother’s and Father’s Day in 2018 and ran the initiative again in 2019. Due to distancing and restriction rules brought on by the pandemic, though, the initiative was put on hold in 2020 and 2021.

Roses will be available this Sunday, May 8 to the first 250 visitors at the cemetery. The roses can be picked up beside the Mountain View Cemetery office at 1210 Scenic Drive South, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., or until they are gone.

Staff will also be offering flowers on Father’s Day on Sunday, June 19.
