LETHBRIDGE, AB – The City of Lethbridge Public Operations department is partnering with the Lethbridge Public Library to celebrate the return of the Big Truck Petting Zoo this weekend.

The event will take place Saturday, May 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Crossings Branch on the west side of Lethbridge. It was put on hiatus the last two years due to COVID-19.

Residents can visit the branch’s parking lot to see some of the City’s largest vehicles and equipment.

Joel Sanchez, Director of Infrastructure Services said, “the Big Truck Petting Zoo provides an opportunity to climb aboard and take pictures with some of the largest vehicles in the City’s fleet.”

“We look forward to everyone having a chance to interact up close with the equipment that is used by our Public Operations department in their daily work.”

A fire truck from the Lethbridge Fire Department will also be on display, as well as several vehicles from the Lethbridge Police Service and the Bookmobile from the Lethbridge Public Library.

Sarah Head, Services Manager at the Lethbridge Public Library said, “we are so excited to again partner with the City of Lethbridge to bring this event to Library visitors.”

“We had so much positive feedback after our 2019 event we knew we had to bring the trucks back to the Crossings Branch. The Big Truck Petting Zoo not only allows us to showcase all the cool equipment kids see in books, on TV, and in their daily lives, but also gives them the opportunity to meet and learn from the real-life operators of these vehicles.”

The Crossings Branch of the Lethbridge Public Library is located at 255 Britannia Boulevard West. The event will serve as a kick-off to Public Works Week, which runs from May 15 to 21, 2022.
