Blood Tribe Police arrest two people after drug seizure

MOSES LAKE, AB – Two people were arrested by the Blood Tribe Police Service (BTPS) after a drug seizure on the Blood Tribe First Nation.

On Tuesday, May 10, 2022, the BTPS executed a search warrant on a property in the Moses Lake community after concerns were raised by community members regarding the alleged illegal sale of cannabis.

The police service says officers seized 2,013 grams of dry cannabis, 838 grams of Psilocybin (mushrooms), cannabis edibles, and other cannabis products, with a total value of about $60,000.

Additionally, the BTPS says $14,674 in Canadian currency was seized.

A 53-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman, both from the Blood Tribe, were arrested on scene. Both individuals were released from custody and the police service says charges are pending.

The BTPS is reminding the public that the marketing and sale of cannabis and alcohol is strictly prohibited on the Blood Tribe.
