City issues RV parking reminder ahead of May long weekend

May 18, 2022 | 8:35 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – As we approach the long weekend, the City of Lethbridge has issued a reminder for residents parking their recreation vehicles (RV) or trailers.

Officials say you can park RVs on your driveway or in the backyard of your personal residence if the space allows. You cannot, however, park an RV so that any part of it hangs over or encroaches on a sidewalk, curb or road.

RVs can be temporarily parked on the street directly in front or beside one’s own residence for up to 48 hours. After 48 hours, you have to move the RV off the road for at least 36 consecutive hours before it can be parked there again.

The City added that while you park your RV on the street, you cannot extend slide-outs, as this may impede passing vehicles and pedestrians.

You can briefly position your RV in a lane or alleyway while you are in the process of loading or unloading it. You cannot block the passage for other vehicles while it is there, and you have to move it out of the alleyway or lane once you have finished.

For residents who do not have enough space to park their RVs at their home, there are many private RV parking lots in and around Lethbridge.

Additionally, RV owners who need to dispose of waste following a trip can access the Sani Dump, which is open year-round at the Tourism Lethbridge Visitor Information Centre at 2805 Scenic Drive S.
