LETHBRIDGE, AB – Five Lethbridge College Kodiaks have been recognized for their dedication in academics and in the classroom.

The five student-athletes all earned Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Academic All-Canadian honours. The award is the CCAA’s most prestigious honour.

To be eligible, student-athletes have to earn at least all-conference status for their sport, while also achieving a grade point average of at least 3.3. This year, 230 student-athletes from coast-to-coast were recognized as Academic All-Canadians.

The Kodiaks CCAA Academic All-Canadians are:

  • Courtney Deemter. Deemter was also named the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference’s women’s basketball south division rookie of the year.
  • Jaden Veluw from the men’s soccer program.
  • Ben Knight from the men’s soccer program.
  • Jamie Brown from the women’s volleyball program.
  • Megan Morrison from the women’s soccer program.

The Kodiaks have had at least five CCAA Academic All-Canadians in each of the past six seasons and have had 79 throughout their history.

Student-athletes with the Kodiaks are able to access the Kodiaks Academic Success Team (KAST) through Lethbridge College’s Learning Café.

The program recognizes the demands on their time and works with their scheduled to ensure their work in the classroom does not suffer from their involvement in athletics.
