Kenney to remain UCP leader until new leader is chosen
CALGARY, AB – The current head of Alberta’s United Conservative Party (UCP) will stay on the job until a new leader can be selected.
Jason Kenney announced his resignation on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, following the UCP leadership review vote.
Although Kenney won a slim majority of the votes at 51.4% and passed the constitutional requirement to remain the leader, he said it was hardly a clear mandate and that Albertans deserve a leader who can truly unite the province.
