MEDICINE HAT, AB – Police in Medicine Hat say counterfeit $100 “movie” bills may be circulating in the community.

According to a release from the Medicine Hat Police Service, following a recent arrest, a suspect was found to have $2,000 in counterfeit currency in his possession.

At first glance, police say the bills looked legitimate but are clearly marked “For Motion Picture Use Only” and “Not Legal Tender” on both sides.

Police say it is unknown where the suspect may have passed the bills and the investigation is ongoing.

Police are asking people to be extra diligent in verifying the $100 bills they’ve taken in recent transactions. Anyone who thinks they may have received a counterfeit bill should contact their local police service.
