Lethbridge County enacts Fire Restriction

May 26, 2022 | 12:31 PM

LETHBRIDGE COUNTY, AB – Just over one month after it was lifted, a Fire Restriction is back in effect in Lethbridge County. It took effect at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2022, due to the warm and dry weather.

Lethbridge County says the area has received minimal rain and temperatures are forecast to remain warm.

Under the Fire Restriction, no fire permits or fireworks permits will be issued and all active permits are cancelled.

Burning in some devices is still allowed, as long as the device meets the specifications of the Lethbridge County Fire Permit Bylaw #1424. Some examples include:

  • Recreational campfires such as campground and backyard fire pits
  • Fires contained in cooking or heating appliances fueled by fluids or gasses
  • Other incinerators that meet Fire Permit Bylaw specifications

To determine if a device meets Fire Permit Bylaw requirements, call the Lethbridge County office at 403-5525 or go to the Lethbridge County website.
