RCMP lay charges against two break and enter suspects

CLARESHOLM, AB – Claresholm and Nanton RCMP have laid multiple charges against two individuals after an early morning arrest on May 27, 2022.

Just before 7 a.m. on May 27, RCMP received reports of a break and enter in progress in the 5000 block of 3A Street in Claresholm.

Nanton RCMP located the first suspect travelling on foot and in possession of several stolen items, as well as an imitation handgun and break-in instruments.

The second suspect was located and arrested nearby in a white Chevrolet Avalanche, where RCMP also found a taser, firearm ammunition, and additional break-in instruments.

After further investigation, Claresholm RCMP members also recovered a Husqvarna motorcycle reported stolen from the Nanton area, and a stolen enclosed cargo trailer, which police believe to be from Lethbridge.

RCMP have charged 44-year old Michael Tracey of Calgary with 27 offences, which include multiple weapons charges and possession of stolen property over $5,000.

Tracey is expected to appear in Lethbridge Provincial Court for a bail hearing on May 30, 2022.

Also charged is 37-year old William Douglas of Calgary. Douglas faces six criminal charges, ranging from possession of stolen property, and possessing of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Douglas was released from custody and is expected to appear in Fort Macleod Provincial Court on July 20.
