Police on scene at high-risk incident on West side, public advised to avoid the area

UPDATE: High-risk incident over, one person taken into custody

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge Police are on the scene of a high-risk incident near Walsh Drive and Heritage Boulevard West. Police are asking people to avoid the area.

The Lethbridge Police Service Tactical Team and Explosive Disposal Unit have been deployed at the scene.

The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) says the incident involves a man barricaded inside an apartment building in the 2500 block of Walsh Drive West.

Police officers are currently surrounding the building, and have blocked a vehicle in the parking lot.

Witnesses say police arrived shortly after 12:00, and have been on site throughout the afternoon. The LPS K-9 Unit is also on the scene, and police are reportedly using a drone to monitor the site.
