LETHBRIDGE, AB – A Taber basketball star is joining the Lethbridge College Kodiaks women’s team.

Kitawna Sparks will suit up for the Kodiaks next season. Head coach Ken McMurray said that “Kitawna is an inside presence that will help to fill the void left from Kirsten Barwegen’s graduation.”

“She can rebound, defend, score and pass out of the post. I am most excited about Kitawna’s potential to be a dominant ACAC player if she continues to work hard.”

Sparks said she brings a lot on the defensive end to the court, rebounding on both offence and defense and believes she has a strong ability to find her teammates on the perimeter. She said she is excited to join the Kodiaks because of the team culture and family environment.

Sparks commented, “I am looking forward to being a part of a team again.”

“Everyone has your back.”

Sparks will be joining former teammates Montana Berezay and Catriona Smith. She played with the two for several years in junior high and high school.

The Kodiaks finished in second place in the ACAC south division last season and are set to tip off their 2022-2023 regular season in October.
