Collision shuts down portion of Highway 2A near Okotoks

MD OF FOOTHILLS, AB – Emergency crews are on scene of a two-vehicle collision near Okotoks.

The RCMP says a collision occurred shortly before 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022 on Highway 2A near Okotoks. Okotoks RCMP, Turner Valley RCMP, Fire and EMS are at the scene.

Mounties say an adult female driver has been airlifted to a Calgary hospital via STARS Air Ambulance. The woman was the only one in the passenger vehicle.

The driver of the second vehicle involved in the collision remains on scene. The adult male was the lone occupant in that vehicle.

Motorists are advised that as of 11:30 a.m., Highway 2A between 434 Avenue East and 466 Avenue East will be closed for several hours as the RCMP Collision Analyst and Okotoks RCMP continue to investigate. Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible and find alternate routes.

An update will be provided once the highway reopens to traffic.
