LETHBRIDGE, AB – The popular Whoop-Up parade and rodeo are coming back for Whoop-Up Days 2022.

Lethbridge & District Exhibition has announced that Whoop-Up Days will run from August 23-27, 2022.

It will be headlined by the Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo, returning this year for the festival, which will take place from August 25-27.

Professional rodeo has exception roots in Southern Alberta and the community, according to a June 7 statement by Mike Warkentin, CEO of Lethbridge & District Exhibition.

“We wanted to bring back the legacy and long-standing tradition,” said Warkentin. “We welcome the community to witness one of the world’s most action-packed and exciting sports. The Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo is a legacy showcase of Southern Alberta sport–it is engrained in the history, people and culture.”

Last year’s Whoop-Up Days did not feature a parade due to scheduling, cost, and construction challenges.

However, the festival this year will begin with the Whoop-Up Days parade through downtown Lethbridge on August 23.

Lethbridge & District Exhibition is also introducing a powwow at Whoop-Up Days, in partnership with the Blackfoot Confederacy, to honour the heritage of the Blackfoot people and the stories of First Nations peoples.

For artists, they will be able to display and sell their artwork at La Galleria, a curated and creative space that recognizes the local art community, as well as the artists who capture life in Southern Alberta.

Exhibition Park will feature many other forms of events and entertainment like a dedicated kid’s zone, an indoor beach party, and the 1927 Saloon.

Tickets for Whoop-Up Days and Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo are now on-sale now until August 4. For more information, visit the Whoop-Up Days webpage.
