Lethbridge College raises Progressive Pride Flag to support 2SLGBTQIA+ community

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge College raised the Progressive Pride Flag on June 13, 2022 to support the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

Dr. Samantha Lenci, interim President and CEO of Lethbridge College said that the college is dedicated to advancing equity, diversity and inclusion.

“Everyone on our campus deserves to feel welcome and valued, and raising the Pride Flag each June is one way we can demonstrate that commitment,” said Lenci.

This is the seventh year the college has raised the Pride Flag, and the second time it has flown the Progressive Pride flag to commemorate Pride month in June.

A news release from the college states that the Progressive Pride Flag’s latest variation promotes inclusivity by recognizing “trans individuals, marginalized people of colour, and those who are living with or who have died from HIV/AIDS.”

Lethbridge College also has a dedicated a Pride Lounge where members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community can socialize, and the college will enter a float in the upcoming Pride Parade in Lethbridge on June 25, 2022.
